The Rainier varsity girls are down two in league with a split overall record this season. Starting strong with three non-league wins against Portland Adventist 41-25, Kalama 49-44, and Catlin Gabel 30-22.

On the road at Amity, the Columbians fell 53-30 in non-league play. Starting league games, Rainier had hard luck against Willamina in a 53-41 loss, followed by a 61-36 defeat on the road at Warrenton. The girls have three non-league tournament games coming in Gladstone and Astoria, then will host Taft at 6 p.m. on Jan. 2.

Rainier, currently ranked No. 15 in the 3A division, meets No. 3-ranked Clatskanie on Lady Tigers turf at 6 p.m. on Jan. 8. Clatskanie won its first league game against Willamina 77-28 on the road Dec. 19.
