Luceille May Proksel (nee Tombleson) born Dec. 8, 1920 passed away from natural causes in Portland on April 7, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Proksel in 1980.
Luceille and Bill owned and operated several motels and bars on the California and Oregon coasts. They retired to the West Linn/Lake Oswego area in the 1960s and spent their later years traveling, golfing, gardening, and enjoying their extended family. Luceille moved to Rainier, Oregon from Lamar, Colorado in 1928 with her parents and seven siblings. She graduated from Stanfield High School in 1937.
Luceille had no children, but is survived by one brother, Wesley of Keizer, Oregon; 22 nieces and nephews; and three step-grandchildren, all who remember her as being very generous, interested in others, and having a terrific sense of humor right up to the end.
There will be a private graveside service at 11 a.m. on June 27, 2020, at the Hudson Cemetery in Rainier, Oregon to be officiated by her nephew, Rev. Larry Tombleson of Salem, Oregon.
