Carl John Blodgett was born on Feb. 5, 1948 in Portland, Oregon to Iola and Earl Blodgett. He passed away on Sept. 30, 2019 at his home in Clatskanie.
Carl was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving in the First Air Cavalry Division. He worked at the Wauna Mill for 44 years before his retirement in 2010. He married Linda Reed on Aug. 10, 1968. He was a devoted husband to his wife Linda; being married for 51 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to all of his children and grandchildren.
Carl was an avid sportsman spending much of his time hunting, fishing and attending sporting events. He will be remembered by those that knew him for being a dependable, hardworking and genuine man. He loved his family and friends like no other and he always sent the message to everyone to do things the right way and never take shortcuts. Carl lived a great life and touched many people on his journey.
He is survived by his wife Linda; siblings Don Carnahan of Clatskanie, Kent Blodgett of Clatskanie and Lisa McCort of Vancouver, Washington; children Kendra Poor (Troy) of Clatskanie and John Blodgett (Sarah) of Clatskanie; grandchildren Cameron Carson (Mekenzie), Kaitlyn Carson, Codi Blodgett, Dawson Howard, Cooper Blodgett; Crew Blodgett, Shelby Blodgett, Nathan Poor and Bethany Poor; and great-grandchildren Kaydence and Landon Carson.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 12, 2019 in the Clatskanie High School Auditorium. Interment at Murray Hill Cemetery and a luncheon at the Clatskanie Cultural Center will follow the service.
