bike race

Seattle to Portland will pass through St. Helens this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14. Approximately 8,000 cyclists are expected to move through our city during this time. St. Helens High School is one of five main official rest stops on the route. It is also the last full rest stop before participants arrive at their final destination in Portland.

Due to the Gable Road detour and construction project, we ask the community to use extra caution when driving in the area of Highway 30 near the High School this weekend. The construction project has greatly increased through-traffic on several surface streets in the surrounding area. With approximately 8,000 cyclists also using some of these same side streets this weekend, be extra vigilant while driving. We ask both drivers and cyclists to obey all traffic laws, use extra caution on side streets, and to watch out for each other.

Let’s all arrive at our intended destinations safe this weekend.
