The accolades continue to mount for the 2018 Rainier Columbians that captured the 3A Oregon State Football Championship this season. Rainier Mayor Jerry Cole issued an official proclamation in honor of the team at the Dec. 3 City Council meeting.

“It’s an honor to be able to recognize the team,” Cole said. “Rainier is so proud of the Columbians football team.”

The proclamation declared the month of December to be “Rainier Columbian Football Month” in the city of Rainier, calling on the community to recognize and congratulate the team.

The official proclamation document details the Columbians 44-14 triumph over the Cascade Christian Challengers, the capstone of an historic undefeated 13-0 run. Head coach Mike King and the entire football coaching staff was highlighted as integral in guiding the team to victory under their power of their unwavering support through hard daily practices.

“The entire community of Rainier and its surrounding areas are very proud of the 2018 Rainier Columbians Football team,” the proclamation states.
